Ground Breaking Ceremony for a Greener Future

(Medford, OR) - Rogue Federal Credit Union is holding a ground breaking ceremony on Thursday, September 4 at 11:00 am on the corner of McAndrews and Poplar for the new location of their North Medford branch (which is currently located on Royal Court). The new 14,000 square foot branch will include mortgage, investment, and business services in addition to the usual branch services such as tellers, loan officers, drive-up and ATM access. The new building replaces the site of the former forest service building and will be part of the Oregon Energy Trust custom track energy efficiency program. The "go green" concept is important to Rogue Federal which is why they are building this new location to include such green features as:

• Ground source geothermal system for heating and cooling
• Natural lighting for interior illumination
• Special glass systems for exterior windows
• Natural ventilation systems
• Energy efficient lighting systems
• Roof rain water collection and reuse
• Porous paving systems to reduce demand on storm drain system
• Preservation of existing trees and using landscaping to help cool the building

President/CEO Gene Pelham said, "We are proud to be building a structure that will represent the ideals of recycling, green initiatives and preserving our resources for a better future. Reusing the existing materials from this site was always a goal of this project, as well as learning the ways we as a growing financial institution can go green with any new building plans."
