Rogue FCU, a $390 million asset institution, is going 'green' at its newly purchased property in Medford, Ore. The property was previously a U.S. Forest Service location. Demolition began Monday, with plans for removal of old growth timber, which will be preserved and recycled for use in wineries, custom homes and buildings around the U.S.
"There is beautiful wood in those buildings, and we figured preserving it for future use would be the 'green' thing to do," said Gene Pelham, Rogue FCU president/CEO.
The land will be used to relocate Rogue's North Medford offices.
"We have outgrown our current North Medford location and the newly purchased land will allow us to better serve our members and to allow for future growth of the credit union," Pelham said.
The new building, tentatively scheduled to open in mid-2009, will be designed using 'green' energy-efficient methods and techniques.
