Rogue Federal received second place in the Dora Maxwell category and first place in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education category.
Rogue Federal was presented with a second place plaque in the $200 million to $500 million asset category for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Awards. The Dora Maxwell Award honors credit unions for their charitable work in the communities they serve. Rogue Federal staff volunteered more than 8,900 hours of service to the community in 2006. Included in the many projects, Rogue Federal employees participated in food repacking projects at ACCESS throughout the year. The many projects yielded meals for more than 3,500 seniors and low-income families with over 202,000 pounds of food repacked.
Kerrie Davis, Community and Education Outreach Coordinator, received the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award for leadershp within the Credit Union Movement on behalf of youth financial literacy. Rogue Federal received first place at the state level and honorable mention at the national level in the over $250 million asset category. This award considers all activities supporting the personal finance education of young members and nonmembers. Kerrie reached 4,780 students with financial education classes at local schools and the credit union throughout 2006.
Gene Pelham, CEO/President stated, "Being granted the Dora Maxwell and the Desjardins Awards is a distinguished honor, but the real award isn't the plaques we hang on our wall. The real award is being able to walk around in our community knowing that we, as a credit union, have helped to make a difference in the lives of our family, friends, neighbors and community."
